3C Rides to france - Le Tour!

One of our members Ant Gahr is planning a trip down to Paris to watch the last stage of this years Tour de France and is looking for members to join him. The group will be cycle touring/bike packing (trip is open to both roadies and off roaders) and the plan is to leave from the Hythe shop on Thursday 20 July to cycle to Portsmouth, to catch the overnight ferry to Le Havre.

The group will then spend the next two days cycling down to the outskirts Paris (roughly following the river Seine), and spend Sunday watching the Tour de France final stage. On Monday, they will leave Paris and spend the next three days cycling back to Le Havre (via a different route), for the return ferry to Portsmouth on Wednesday 26 July.

Ant has used the proposed routes several times in the past which takes in the quiet roads of rural France (they are tried and tested). You will be staying in small rural campsites en-route and at the larger Camping International Maisons-Laffitte in the outskirts of Paris. Maximum distances in any day will be no more than 70 miles (most days are shorter than this) at a pace of approximately 13MPH. Time allows for plenty of stops during each day.

If you are interested in joining Ant, please contact him via WhatsApp, Facebook, e-mail (anthonygahr@uk2.net), or catch him at any Tuesday evening ride.

He would like to know if you are interested by 14 March 2017, so that accommodation and ferry can be booked and costs finalised.

Exciting!!!
